Need to keep up with what’s happening in the world of research? Scopus has you covered

What is it?

Scopus is a leading abstract and citation database covering high quality, peer-reviewed literature across subjects such as science, technology, medicine, and social sciences.

Why use it?

Scopus can help you discover, track, and analyse research using powerful tools for citation analysis, author profiles, and research metrics. If you’re working on an in-depth assignment or large piece of work like a dissertation or final project, Scopus can help you:

  • Find high-quality sources
  • Read review articles for fast overviews of a topic
  • Track citations to see influential research
  • Identify key authors and journals

How do I use it?

Use the search builder to construct Boolean searches and refine your results using the filters on the left-hand side. Take a look at Scopus’s search tips for more insights into getting the most out of the database. If you’re just starting out with a research topic, for example, you can limit your results to review articles to get a broad overview of what’s being published in that area.

Read abstracts for an overview and for any articles that you’d like to read in full, select ‘View at Publisher’ to be taken to the article landing page. For any non-open access research, use the institutional login option to check availability through the Arden University Library, or use a research tool like Libkey.io to see if we can provide one-click access. For any articles outside of the library collection, you can use our Request it! service to ask that we obtain and send you a digital copy straight to your inbox.

How do I get started?

Go to Scopus in the A-Z List of Databases and click ‘Open Database’ in the top banner to start investigating what Scopus has to offer in your areas of research interest.
