The Library Team and Academic Skills Tutors will be taking a break for the Christmas period from the 24th December until the 3rd January and will return to the office on the 4th January.

You will still be able to access everything on the Library Portal and within our collections during this period - however the Library Team and Academic Skills Tutors will not be available to answer any questions you may have during this time.

If your enquiry is urgent and cannot wait until we reopen, please contact Student Support on StudentSupport@arden.ac.uk

If you need assistance with using the Library over the Christmas period, there are a range of guidance videos available on the Recordings page of the Library Portal, or you may find what you need in the FAQs below:

1. I need help accessing resources in the Library Portal.

All resources available through the Library Portal are accessed using your Arden Office 365 login details. This will be your Arden University email address (your student number followed by @ardenuniversity.ac.uk) and password.

If you are unsure of how to access your Arden Office 365 account, you can recover your password by clicking on this link - there is also some guidance on resetting your password here.

2. I need help accessing my Perlego account.

You will first need to register for an account with Perlego by following the steps below:

To register for your free Arden University Perlego account:

  • Click on this link
  • Register using your Arden University email address (this is your student number followed by @ardenuniversity.ac.uk) and password.

If you are unsure of your Arden University password, you can recover it using this link: https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/

IMPORTANT: Do not click ‘start free trial’ or enter your personal details - we have already set you up with an account using your Arden log in details.

Each time you then wish to use Perlego, you will login using your Arden University email address and accompanying password.

This guide provides more information on using Perlego.

3. Where can I find the key texts for my course?

The Subject Guides on the Library Portal have links down the right-hand side, which will take you to a specific list of the key texts for your course.

Your key texts will also be listed in your module resources on iLearn, at the bottom of your lesson list for each module.

4. Where can I access academic skills support?

Academic Skills workshops and one to one appointments are available right up until the 23rd of December and they will restart again after the Christmas closure period on the 4th of January. If you need to access support from the team before the end of the year, please make sure you book an appointment or a space on a workshop before the 23rd of December.

If you need help with academic skills during the Christmas closure period from the 24th December until the 4th January, there are a whole range of resources on the Academic Skills pages on the Library Portal.

5. Can I book onto a workshop or one-to-one appointment even though you are on your Christmas break?

Yes, you can. Please check out the Academic Skills Workshop page  and the Academic Skills Tutor Appointments page on the Library Portal where you can book into a workshop or a one-to-one appointment from the 4th January when we return following the Christmas closure period.

6. I need help with referencing, where can I find this?

There is a page dedicated to referencing, including access to the latest guides on the Library Portal in the Referencing and Avoiding Plagiarism page
