The Library Team and Academic Skills Tutors will be taking a break for the Christmas period from Friday 23 December 2022 until Tuesday 3 January 2023

You will still be able to access everything on the Library Portal and within our collections throughout this period - however the Library Team and Academic Skills Tutors will not be available to answer any questions you may have during this time.

If your enquiry is urgent and cannot wait until we reopen, please contact Student Support on StudentSupport@arden.ac.uk.

If you need assistance with using the Library over the Christmas period, there are a range of guidance videos available on the Recordings page of the Library Portal, or you may find what you need in the FAQs below:

1. I  need help accessing resources in the Library Portal.

All resources available through the Library Portal are accessed using your Arden Office 365 login details. This will be your Arden University email address (your student number followed by @ardenuniversity.ac.uk) and password.

If you are unsure of how to access your Arden Office 365 account, you can recover your password by clicking on this link - there is also some guidance on resetting your password here

2. How do I access my eBooks for my module reading?

All of our eBooks are now provided through our main eBook platform, BibliU – if you haven’t accessed BibliU before, you can do so following these steps:

  • Click on this link

  • Sign in using your Arden University Office 365 login details (this is your student number followed by @ardenuniversity.ac.uk) and password.

If you are unsure of how to access your Arden Office 365 account, you can recover your password by clicking on this link - there is also some guidance on resetting your password here

Watch this short demonstration to find out more about how to use BibliU, and its range of amazing tools and features.

3. Why can I no longer access Perlego?

Following our review of eBook platforms and feedback from staff and students from across the University, earlier in the year we decided to partner with BibliU as our new eBook platform provider, ending our usage of Perlego as of 22nd December.

From this date, you will therefore no longer be able to access Perlego via Arden University. However, we have ensured that all of your key textbooks for your modules have been switched across to our new platform, BibliU, or our EBSCO and eBook Central platforms.

You can access all three of these platforms via our A-Z List of Databases here, using your Arden University Office 365 login details and password.

4. Where can I find the key texts and other useful information for my course?

The Subject Guides on the Library Portal have links down the right-hand side, which will take you to a specific list of the key texts for your course.

Your Subject Guide will also provide you with the most up to date version of the referencing guide for your subject area, as well as any relevant research tools; subject-specific database links; and other useful resources as identified by your Assistant Librarians and your School.

5. Where can I access academic skills support?

Academic Skills workshops and one to one appointments are available right up until the 22nd of December and they will restart again after the Christmas closure period on the 3rd January. If you need to access support from the team before the end of the year, please make sure you book an appointment or a space on a workshop before the 22nd December.

If you need help with academic skills during the Christmas closure period from the 23rd December until the 3rd January, there are a whole range of resources on the Academic Skills pages on the Library Portal, as well as some helpful recordings on our Recordings page here

6. Can I book onto a workshop or one-to-one appointment even though you are on your Christmas break?

Yes, you can book appointments ready for when we return after 3rd January.

To do this, visit the Academic Skills Workshop page and the Academic Skills Tutor Appointments page on the Library Portal where you can book onto a workshop or a one-to-one appointment from the 3rd January, when we return following the Christmas closure period.

6. I need help with referencing, where can I find this?

There is a page dedicated to referencing, including access to the latest guides on the Library Portal in the Referencing and Avoiding Plagiarism page

Further help is available via our full set of Library & Academic Skills FAQs here
