Unbelievably the Arden Library Portal has reached its first milestone birthday, as we reach the first-year anniversary since the Portal went live in 2021.

The Library Portal is a one stop Digital Library providing access to all the key texts, journals, study skills information and subject specific resources you need to support your learning journey at Arden.

Since the launch in August 2021 the Library Portal has seen an incredible amount of searches and page views. Take a look at the infographic where we have pulled some of these figures together, along with some facts about the Library Portal that you might not already know!

We will also be celebrating the birthday of the Library Portal by hosting a week-long series of events as part of Libraries Week as part of National Libraries Week, which takes place from 3 to 9 October.

Organised by CILIP (The Library and Information Association), National Libraries Week this year is called “Never Stop Learning”. The week is a celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries and the central role that libraries play in supporting life-long learning and helping people discover new interests and passions at every stage of life.

Throughout Libraries Week there will be an exciting schedule of workshops available for both students and members of staff to attend. These will include sessions designed to help you to refine your Library search strategy and tips for using Open Access sources (including Google Scholar) effectively.

We will also be introducing you to some of the key Library databases we have added to the collection over the last few months, including our new eTextbook platform BibliU , Gale Research Complete, and Practical Law.

Libraries week will also see the launch of a University-wide trial of a brand-new Library Search Interface from EBSCO.

You can view the schedule and book your place at a Libraries Week workshop through the Study Skills Module in iLearn.

Help us to improve the Library Portal further by giving your views on what you love, and what you’d like to see changed or added to the platform. Our feedback form can be found here and everyone who submits a form is in with a chance to win a £50 Amazon voucher in our quarterly prize draw.
