We know that the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is a current and rapidly developing topic for our students in both your academic and professional lives. We want you to feel confident in knowing how you can choose to use AI to support your studies in ways that align with and uphold your academic integrity so we’ve put together a page of information and resources on the Learning Success Hub: Artificial Intelligence.

GenAI and Arden University

If you’ve heard of GenAI as a buzzword but aren’t exactly sure what it is or what it does, you’ll find a brief and helpful explanation along with guidance on how you can use AI appropriately and ethically. We’ve included a link to the Arden University Statement on the use of AI in Assessment, and we strongly advise every student to carefully read and refer back to this document as you progress through your studies.

Tools and Resources to Empower You

We’ve also compiled a list of appropriate AI tools that are available free of charge and that you can use to support your studies, safe in the knowledge that they won’t put you at risk of committing academic misconduct. If you’d like to know more about the potential ethical uses of AI, including GenAI, in your academic work (as well as ‘what not to do’), the Academic Skills Team run regular workshops on ‘Using AI for Academic Purposes’ and you’ll find a link on the page to book your place. You can also watch a video recording on the use of AI which demonstrates both ethical and fair use of chatbots, as well as approaches to avoid that are regarded as unfair practise.

A Developing Library

We’re also growing our collection of eBooks on the topic of AI; a search of the Library Portal will show you titles on AI as it relates to a number of different professions and industries relevant across our programmes, from business to human resource management, health and care management to marketing, and more. We’d recommend that all our students read and refer back to Generative AI for Students: The Essential Guide to Using Artificial Intelligence for Study at University (Meechan, 2025), which will boost your AI literacy and your understanding of the academic and professional applications of GenAI, as well as its ethical implications. If there are any eBooks focusing on AI that you’d like to see in the collection, you can Request an eBook.

AI is at the heart of a constantly evolving digital landscape and we want you to feel equipped to use these tools appropriately, as well as understanding the potential consequences for inappropriate use.

If you have any questions regarding the use of AI in your assignments, get in touch with the Academic Skills Team: AcademicSkills@arden.ac.uk or book a one-to-one with an Academic Skills Tutor for dedicated support: One-to-One Appointments.
