What is a One-to-One appointment?
A one-to-one appointment is a meeting you can book with a member of the Learning Success Hub team to access personalised assistance with your study skills, assignments and research.
What can I get help with?
The Learning Success Hub has a team of specialists on hand to discuss your specific study requirements. Before booking an appointment, read the information below to see what type of support suits your needs.
Academic Skills One-to-One appointments
You can book an online or on-campus appointment with an Academic Skills Tutor, who will support you with all aspects of your study skills. A tutor can help you develop essential skills like academic writing, structuring assignments, literature searching, and referencing. Your tutor will discuss your specific needs, help build your confidence and create a tailored study plan that is bespoke to you!
If you need help with an assignment, clearly indicate the area you want to focus on when booking and provide a sample of your work in advance for feedback.
Academic English One-to-One appointments
If you have English as an additional language and need support with academic English, you can meet online or on-campus with a specialist English language lecturer to look at your individual language issues in relation to your assignments. You can get personalised help and feedback on your writing, presentations, intonation, or pronunciation.
To prepare, send a sample of up to 500 words to englishlanguagehub@arden.ac.uk at least a day before your appointment. Be sure to specify which aspects of academic writing you need assistance with in your email.
Library One-to-One appointments
The Library team can help you with locating resources in the Library Portal, accessing eBooks, using Library databases, and developing strategies to find the resources you need more effectively. You can book an online appointment with a Librarian if you need more help using the online Library.
Who will my appointment be with?
When you book an appointment, you will be able to select which tutor, lecturer or librarian you would like to meet with. Explore the About Us page to find out more about the different teams and their specialisms.
When should I book an appointment?
Don’t wait until your assignment deadline to book a One-to-One appointment. You can schedule an appointment at any time during your study block to identify areas for improvement and develop your study skills before your assignment is due.
